The Problem:

You’ve had your domain name now for about 1 or 2 years and you remember you purchased it for around $14.00 or so. So why are you getting a letter in the mail telling you to renew for $45 – $80? It’s a scam!

The Fix:

There is a service (to remain unnamed in this post) that sends direct mail to owners of domain names asking them to renew with them… or else. Don’t be fooled! Although you probably DO need to renew, companies like this charge about $30 – $50 more than what is required. Simply log on to the account where you originally bought the domain name (GoDaddy, SiteGround, BlueHost, etc.) and they will give you renewal options — usually around $14/year.
